Chapter 6: Dangerous Endeavour
A sudden attack by Pokémon on the Perth Pokémon Centre has put Brendan’s Pikachu Nardi and the citizens of Perth in grave danger. Brendan goes rushing towards the center to help out despite not having his Pokémon. Tye only watches in disbelief at his suicidal choice...
The Nidoking and Queen have begun to smash their way through the Pokémon Center breaking windows and anything in their path. Brendan rushes past a pair of Nidoking and Nidoqueen who just made their entrance through a side window. As he runs past as far he could into the building, the pair begin the charge at him with a takedown attack. He runs as fast as he can down a narrow hallway only to find the exit blocked in debris. He turns around at the end only to see them coming right for him!
“Shit! This is it!” Brendan yelled. He prepared for the worst to happen. Death...
“Heads up mate!” Someone yelled.
Suddenly a beam light thrown at a high velocity struck the backs of the two Pokémon. They flung forward head first into the debris behind Brendan as thrusted himself foward ducking to the floor.
“Nice hyper beam there Blooma!” The voice was Tye who had just saved Brendan from certain death! His Pokémon was a Tauros who looked feisty and ready for combat.
“You came Tye!” Brendan said.
“Sure mate, I won’t let ya end up killin’ yourself even if we now are both in danger. Not to worry though; Blooma here should be strong enough to hold them off, I hope...” Tye replied.
Brendan looked down at the Tauros. “Thanks Blooma.” The bull-like Pokémon sneered in excitement.
“Come on Brendan, I know where Nardi was being treated in the building. It’s room 312 third floor.” Tye said.
Without a reply Brendan headed back down the hallway and made a left busting through a damaged door leading to a stairwell. Tye followed right behind him. Halfway up, Brendan stopped and looked at Tye.
“Tye...where is everyone?” Brendan asked.
“They’ve probably taken refuge on the top floors as the Pokémon haven’t gotten up here yet it looks like. I hope anyway...” Tye sighed.
The two continued up the stairs to the third floor exit. Opening the door, sure enough they found people huddled in the ground together in total fear. Mothers were clutching their kids. Some were holding their Pokémon; many of which were hurt or sick. “What’s gonna happen to us?!” “I don’t wanna die here!” “Someone help us!” was basically the only things people were discussing. They just looked at Tye and Brendan in hopeless despair.
“Tye you try to escort the people outta here somehow. I gotta get Nardi.” Brendan said.
“I’ll try mate! Room 312 is at the end of the hallway on the left!” Tye yelled as Brendan went rushing down the hallway as people crowded it left and right. Room 306, 308, 310 went by in flash to the left as he looked at the door numbers. A left Brendan took to find the room. He practically busted through the door to finally see Nardi lying in a small bed designed for smaller rodent-like Pokémon.
“Nardi!” Brendan yelled. The little Pikachu was smiling in relief. He seemed ok.
“Let’s go buddy, we gotta get outta here!” Nardi nodded as Brendan picked him up into his arms holding him close to his chest tightly. He never wanted to be separated like that again... They made a right back into the main hallway to see a door by Tye at the opposite end become torn to pieces as Nidoking and Queen forced their way through!
“TYE!” Brendan yelled. The people ran left and right trying to scatter anywhere away from the dangerous creatures.
“Hypa Beam Blooma!” Tye yelled to his Tauros as he tried to fight back against a lead Nidoking in front. The amber colored blast knocked the Nidoking off his feet, but a Nidoqueen from behind quickly countered with Mega Kick taking Blooma down!
“Bloody hell... Blooma! RETURN!” Tye yelled in astonishment recalling the Tauros back to its Pokéball. Brendan began to run towards Tye with Nardi in an attempt to help as Tye began to run towards his direction.
“STAY THERE BRENDAN! AND GET READY TO JUMP WHEN I SAY! Tye yelled. He sprinted right towards the end of hallway where Brendan stood. He grabbed another Pokéball off his belt and threw it several feet ahead of him.
“GO! KIWA! GET US OUT OF HERE! In a flash of light a Skarmory appeared flying through the hallway. Tye jumped on to its back just as the two reached Brendan.
“Jump mate JUMP!” Tye said.
Brendan leaped with all his strength with Nardi at his side onto the Skarmory with Tye. Nardi was close in his arms as they flew towards the end of the hallway. At the end was a large glass window. Brendan realized what was about to happen!
“Ohh!!!! DAMN!! YOU CRAZY MAN!” Brendan couldn’t even talk properly as he braced on tightly to the Skarmory’s rough feathers.
“Just get your head down and hang on!” Tye yelled.
Kiwa’s razor sharp beak pieced the glass which shattered in all directions to the ground below as they forced their way into the sky. Kiwa squawked in pain from the impact and lost control after several thousand feet of air time. It began descending rapidly towards to ground.
“BLOODY HELL! Hang on Brendan!!” Tye screamed.
“THIS IS IT!!” Brendan yelled back. They held on and prepared for the worst to come.
The Skarmory crashed into the rough hard dirt ground below flinging Brendan, Tye, and Nardi several meters away. Brendan clutched onto Nardi as tight as he could. They hit the ground knocked unconscious...into the unknown once again...
