Overview - Fire Red and Leaf Green

Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green are basically remakes of the classic Pokémon Red and Green versions of Japan (these were nearly the same as the US Pokémon Red and Blue versions). Fire Red and Leaf Green were developed on the third generation platform of Ruby and Sapphire. They were released in the US on September 9, 2004. Graphics and sounds received minor tweaks to suit to retrospect of the original Red and Green versions. Pokémon sprites however (with the exception of Teddiursa, Deoxys, and the back shots of certain sprites per Butterfree of TCoD) were the same as in Ruby and Sapphire. Fire Red and Leaf Green followed the same storyline as the original, but with some differences. Most notably was the addition of the Sevii Islands: nonexistent in the original Red and Green. They are seven islands players can explore which add more to the story.
Also, all 386 Pokémon can be obtained after defeating the Elite Four, and after completing a task on Sevii islands. Many second generation Pokémon can be found on the Sevii Islands. Players could then easily trade with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald games with ease to obtain all 386 Pokémon. A wireless adapter is included with the game, so players could trade wirelessly.
