Pal Park

The Pal Park is something that is completely unique to Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It's THE most helpful place to help you complete your National Pokédex.

The Pal Park is located southeast on Route 221. You can only access after you beat the Elite Four and have Professor Oak upgrade your Pokédex to National mode. If you try to come here before that happens, the Pal Park is closed for construction.

Now, it's main purpose allows you to transfer six Pokémon from the previous Gameboy Advance generation Pokémon games: Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, and Leaf Green to Diamond/Pearl. However, there are two drawbacks to this. One, you can only transfer six Pokémon in a 24 hour period. The other major thing is that transferring your Pokémon to your Diamond/Pearl game is a one way street meaning you cannot transfer them back. With this in mind, think and choose well before transferring. The positive advantages though far outweigh the negatives though because you can transfer any Pokémon from the mentioned versions along with any hold-able items you wish. As mentioned, this is an extremely helpful place in completing your Pokédex.

You can import your Pokémon to your Diamond/Pearl via the Main Menu option on your Diamond/Pearl game. It's pretty straightforward. Once you have transferred them to your game, you must re capture them in a catching show in the Pal Park. It's sort of like a contest as to how fast you can re capture the Pokémon. Talk to the guy in the yellow hat to begin the catching show.

The Pal Park itself is not very big. Just simply run around in the grass, or surf in the water to find your Pokémon. All you have to is throw a Pokéball (provided) to catch it. You'll catch it every time on the first try regardless of what kind of Pokémon it is. It's a contest of catching speed, not battling. You get a score based on how fast you're able to re capture your Pokémon, and it's rarity. The Pal Park's latent function rewards you with berries depending on how high your score is.
