Red Blue and Yellow

Red Blue and Yellow marked the first generation Pokémon games for the Gameboy Pocket. Red and Blue were released in the US on September 28, 1998, and Yellow was released later in 1999.
These were the classic: start out as a boy from Pallet Town in Kanto and make a name for yourself by defeating all Gym Leaders, capturing all the Pokémon, beating your rival, and becoming a Pokémon Master. There were originally 151 Pokémon at the time. Players had to trade between each version to obtain all the Pokémon, for not all the Pokémon were in each version. These were the games that started it all; indeed classics in my book.

Yellow Version

Pokémon Yellow brought some minor changes to the first generation games. Most notably was the popular addition of having Pikachu follow you around at your side like in the anime. There were some minor changes to the story to make it "feel" more like the anime such as Jeesie and James from Team Rocket. Not to mention, improved Pokémon sprites were added to Pokémon Yellow.
